Nora Vale

Drawing & works on paper

“Paper can hold a very quiet decision.”

Studio practice

Nora’s drawings combine ink, charcoal, watercolour and pastel. She begins with a small visual memory and works until a few marks carry the feeling of it. Unfinished edges and open areas are deliberate parts of the composition.

At Oriel

Her practice moves between imagined portraits and atmospheric colour studies. She chooses papers for their surface and absorbency, treating each sheet as a material with its own voice rather than a neutral background.
