Milo Reed

Painter & watercolour artist

“A place becomes interesting when I stop trying to describe all of it.”

Studio practice

Milo makes paintings from remembered walks, architectural sketches and the movement of light through trees. His watercolours retain the first pencil marks; his larger canvases build a more layered rhythm of oil and graphite.

At Oriel

He is especially interested in thresholds: a doorway, a street turning out of sight, the space between a garden and a room. The finished works are invented places, assembled from observation and the imperfect way a scene stays in memory.
